Remote shooting has never been so easy
The Shutter app worked smoothly almost every time I used it. It responds quickly with no time lag, which is something that I have found to be an issue with other wifi or Bluetooth remote apps. For me, this functions much better than the Canon Connect app and doesn’t drop out when you least expect it to.

A big positive is that it’s super easy to use, intuitive, and very easy to set up. There is simply no learning curve, if you already know how to use your camera it’s pretty much plug in and play.

Beats the Canon connect app by a mile!

I just spent an hour trying everything to get the cannon connect app to connect to my smartphone unsuccessfully. I decided to see if there were other options. Saw great reviews on Shutter and decided to try it — WOW — I was connected within 15 minutes and had downloaded 100 images off my camera. I will be paying for the annual fee once my trial is over for sure — worth every penny!

What Canon Connect should have been

I often prefer to use an iPad to the touchscreen on my EOS RP, especially to show other people what the camera is seeing, such as during the solar eclipse. I also wanted to use the intervalometer to record an image every minute, but that functionality is disabled on the camera while connected to wi-fi, and Connect does not have that feature. So I can view on an iPad, or use the intervalometer, but not both.

Shutter does have this functionality, as well as the standard shutter, aperture, etc controls.

Also, my model allows a bulb timer, but only for one shot. So I can take one image of 60 seconds, for instance, but the intervalometer function is then disabled. I can’t take a series of images longer than 30 seconds.

Shutter also resolves this, allowing me to take any number of long exposures.

Exactly What I Needed

Shutter has been a rock-solid app from the start. It works great, does everything I have asked to do, and does it without hassle. Whether I’m triggering my camera remotely, adjusting settings on the fly, or reviewing shots, it’s responsive and reliable every time. The interface is clean and intuitive, and I’ve had zero connectivity issues. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dependable remote shooting app!

Apple Watch Shutter Controls for Canon Camera

Connected my R6 Mark II to the app in about 5-10 minutes, and from there it’s set it and forget it. I love that I can control my R6 from my wrist with the camera across the room on a tripod (I do it for video but it works for photos and bracketed exposures in the same way) AND see a live preview right on my wrist.

The setup process took a few minutes, but although it takes a little trial and error, it is not tough.

Great app, much better than camera brand app

Long time Canon user. When Canon changed their app to require sign in the sign in always failed with a 403 error. Since no help was available to resolve, I gave the Shutter app a try. Oh my gosh, what a terrific app!! The fact that it allows for selection of the raw files for the download is huge!! Shutter is fast, convenient and stable. Count me as a Shutter fan. Not going back to the Canon app even if they fix the App sign in.

Remote Shutter Trigger for Canon R5

I found this app while WISHING I could trigger the shutter of my canon camera from my Apple Watch, without having to purchase another gadget. This app does the trick and saved me from having to buy a hardware version. When everything is right it does the trick!!

Now, from my Apple Watch,I can see a live preview, adjust exposure settings, and trigger the shutter. It also has an Intervalometer.

I had a question, emailed the developer, and got a response within minutes.

WIFI SETUP: the developer says to connect phone directly to camera WiFi, not through another WiFi network, such as my usual home network. It works MUCH better with the direct connection. If you connect through indirect WiFi expect issues.
